Smart Medication Dispensing
Opioid use disorder (OUD) medications have been shown to reduce relapses and help people stay in treatment much more successfully than treatment without medication. At Florida Treatment Services, we dispense a safe and controlled level of methadone or Suboxone (buprenorphine) for patients from our onsite licensed pharmacy. These medications are effective in blocking cravings and easing withdrawal symptoms from opioids such as heroin, morphine, and codeine, as well as semi-synthetic opioids like oxycodone and hydrocodone.
Before receiving medication-assisted treatment (MAT), a patient must undergo an evaluation. Their unique needs will be assessed by specialists who will prescribe the right medication. There is no one-size-fits-all treatment plan, and each individual will require a unique set of medication and counseling.
In most cases, MAT medications are prescribed every week. Once an individual has completed their week, they will need to apply for a new prescription, and they will eventually receive one for a month’s supply. It’s vital that patients engage in the full range of their individually-tailored recovery programs including medical professionals, counselors and therapists. Certified healthcare professionals administer medicine orally in managed doses according to established protocols for either long-term maintenance or progressive detoxification. Random urinalyses are also conducted to ensure compliance.
